Biography

Joonhyun Lee (b. 2000) is a Seoul-based composer whose work explores the physicality of musical expression and the decontextualization of meaning through the oversaturation of extra-musical implications. 

 His music has been performed at festivals such as RESIS, SNMF, and Pan Music Festival, by ensembles including Ensemble Intercontemporain, Arditti Quartet, and Ensemble Eins. In 2025, he will collaborate with the IEMA ensemble as part of the Lucerne Festival Academy. 

 Also active as a violist, he frequently premieres contemporary works and was selected as a 2025 resident artist for the Gyechon Art Village Project. He is a member-composer of Project Ensemble O.

이중현은 서울을 기반으로, 신체성과 음악 외적 요소의 과포화를 통한 메시지의 탈맥락화에 주목하며 작업한다.

 그의 작품은 RESIS Festival(스페인), SNMF(대한민국), 범음악제(대한민국) 등의 다양한 국제 음악제와 Ensemble Intercontemporain, Arditti Quartet, Ensemble Eins 등의 단체에 의해 연주되었으며, 2025년 루체른 페스티벌 아카데미에서 IEMA와 협업 예정이다.

 비올리스트로서도 활발히 활동 중이며, 계촌예술마을 상주예술가로 선정되었다. 현재 Project Ensemble O 소속 작곡가이자 단원이다.
