Joonghyun Lee  is a Seoul-based musician. He envisions music that is corporeal yet fundamentally auditory, while simultaneously investigating how extra-musical elements can be applied in ways that are meticulously calculated yet appear unorganized, and how they can be employed so as to resist linguistic coherence.

 His works have been performed at various international music festivals such as the Lucerne Festival (Switzerland), RESIS Festival (Spain), the Seoul Arts Center International Music Festival (South Korea), and the Pan Music Festival (South Korea), as well as by ensembles including Ensemble Intercontemporain, the Arditti Quartet, the IEMA Ensemble, Ensemble Modern, Ensemble Eins, and Ensemble TIMF. Recently, he collaborated with IEMA at the 2025 Lucerne Festival Academy, and in Korea he has been working closely with Ensemble Hwadam.

 He is also active as a multi-instrumentalist, performing on viola among other instruments, and was selected as an artist-in-residence for Future Music: Classic Lab Fusion Residency Season 2. He is currently a violist and arranger of the horse.people, founding member of the score-making workshop the sweatshop collective, and the resident composer at Ensemble Hwadam and Ensemble Leeu.

  이중현은 서울을 기반으로 활동하는 음악가이다. 신체적이지만 다분히 청각중심적인 음악을 꿈꾸고 있지만, 동시에 음악외적인 요소들을 어떻게 하면 치밀하게 계산되었지만 정리되지 않은 것처럼 보이는 방식으로, 동시에 어떻게 언어적으로 말이 되지 않도록 응용할 수 있는 지를 연구한다.

 그의 작품은 루체른 페스티벌(스위스), RESIS Festival(스페인), 예술의 전당 국제음악제(대한민국), 범음악제(대한민국) 등의 다양한 국제 음악제와 Ensemble Intercontemporain, Arditti Quartet, IEMA ensemble, Ensemble Modern, Ensemble Eins, 그리고 Ensemble TIMF등의 단체에 의해 연주되었으며, 최근에는 2025년 루체른 페스티벌 아카데미에서 IEMA와 협업, 국내에서는 앙상블 화담과도 긴밀하게 협업해 오고 있다.

 비올라를 포함 여러 악기들을 다루는 다중악기연주자로도 활발히 활동 중이며, 미래음악: 클래식랩 융합 레지던시 시즌2 상주예술가로 선정되었다. 현재 the horse.people 소속 비올리스트 및 편곡자, 악보 제작 공방 the sweatshop collective의 창립 멤버, 그리고 앙상블 화담과 앙상블 이유의 전속 작곡가이다.
